Shipment control goes digital
Impea’s technological renewal journey continues, and this time it involves the shipping department.
Until recently, creating shipping documents was a manual process: half of the label from the outgoing batch was torn off, and the shipping slip was physically completed and printed in the office.
What has changed? We extended the Wi-Fi network to this area and equipped our operators with handheld devices featuring infrared scanners. The result: now, simply scanning the barcode of each pallet bound for shipment automatically generates the shipping slip from the system.
This saves time and avoids having to manually input long numeric strings into a computer, reducing the risk of entering incorrect numbers and causing confusion. The operator just needs to do a final check, insert the shipping terms, and print.
A small and simple innovation, but one that will significantly improve our work.
